Day Three

To Be Added...

Day Two

To Be Added...

Day One

Day One

June 5, 2008

We left pretty early this morning, between 4 and 4:30.

Our First Rest Stop

Our First Timmies

It has been a pretty awesome day and we’ve made good time. I love it out here. The vastness. The wind. The sky. The clouds. The day has been beautiful, aside for a thunder and lightening storm we drove through quite quickly. I say I love the praries but I forget how much I love them until I come back. I adore driving alone the four lane highway, speeding along at 115km/hour on cruise and passing is not issue.

Another thing I love. Dairy Queen ice cream cones. They consist of spun corn and air.

Also, a picture of me and Dad at the giant Ukraine egg at Vegrville.

We stopped at a campsite just past North Battleford. I’m not sure what time, exactly but I suspect a little after 7:30 local time. (The time changes have me a little confused)

Also, I suffered my first camping injury, a paper cut caused by the cardboard label on my camp e

Anyways, I need to stop as it is starting to drizzle and I need to get my computer out of the rain.

Probablt won’t be able to post this until I get assess to the internet, which could be between four days and a week.

Love always,

Kim

Summer!

Well, it looks like summer is finally coming to Prince George. The weather is beautiful today. Nice and hot with clear blue skies and bright green grass. Hopefully it will stay like this for the long weekend.

Only 14 more days until graduation, not that I'm counting or anything. Then my final exam (eight hours long) is on June 4. And me and Dad start driving to Ontario June 5. I need to be in Sherbrooke, Quebec by June 15. :) I have a busy summer ahead of me.

A Rocha Canada - Surrey

Last week I was a part of a group, mostly university students, which visited and volunteered at an A Rocha Canada site in Surrey, BC. A Rocha is a international Christian nature conservation organization. Here are a few pictures:

Of course, we did a lot more than painting and gardening but I didn’t have my camera.

Reading

Well, I've started reading again. I seem to go in cycles. I'll read three or four books in the period of a month and them won't read anything for half a year. I seem to be that way with most things. Writing stories. Listening to music. Playing video games. Posting blog entries.

I went to the library to day and picked up a couple more books to read and I've doubled the list of books I want to read. I've already finished one library book and am half way through another.

So, I'm getting baptized on Sunday at St. Mike's. It's a downtown Anglican church that I have been going to for the past year and a bit. There will be pictures -both Irene and my mom have promised to take them- which I will post.

EDIT (almost a year later): Here is the baptism picture I promised!

EDIT #2: Now with video!

Darcy in the Morning

Darcy, my sister, in the morning:

Monday Morning

It's raining in PG this morning. Not a bad thing, in my opinion. I like the rain, as long as I'm inside. I think the sound of rain falling is soothing.

I've just finished my last 12 hour shift of my first four days in detox. I did two days (0800-2200) and two nights (2200-0800). So far, it has been great. Detox was my first choice, as some of you already know. I still get a look of confused faces when I tell people that I'm doing my practicum there. A few think that working in detox is an unplesant thing.

Darcy just left this morning, to return to Dease. I miss her. :( Who will assure me that I'm a perfectly competant nursing student when I start to freak out about returning to detox on Saturday?

A Trip To The Grocery Store

It's been a long time sonce I've written. Maybe I'll explain why the absence in another post.

Anyway, Darcy is going to birthday parties tonight and tomorrow so I don't plan on cooking supper. I find it too much work for just one person. I'll have to get use to it when Darcy leaves for the summer but for now it's only a couple of days and hot dogs and grilled cheese isn't gonna kill me.

It was such a nice day today that I decided to walk down to the grocery store. I'm glad I went when I did because the sky is clouding over and it look like it is going to rain.

However, as I was walking home, I ran into two things that really bother me.

1) Anyone over the age of twelve who rides their bike on the sidewalk. It's friggin' dangerous! And they act like they own the sidewalk. They don't even warn you when they're coming up behind you.

2) People who yell "Show your titties! Woooo!" or a similiar variation from their cars. And yes, I'm pretty sure it was me they were yelling at because I was the only woman around and I happened to be a tank top.

But I won't let that run a perfectly good day. I feel refreshed from the excerise and the sunshine. I'm looking forward to a supper of hotdogs. And I found the nicest summer dress at Fields. I went in to look for another tank top and found this lovely green and white summer dress. I'll have Darcy or Irene take a picture of me and post it. I really like this dress because it
a) fits
b) is comfortable
c) looks good on me

Anyways, off to do... something.

Blessings!
